The building is a former electricity plant from the early 1900s, and the space has been left relatively intact: there are still lots of vestiges of the power plant in place. The surprise is that a whole bunch of classical statues from around 2000 years ago are now also in the space. The juxtaposition of all the classic pieces from Ancient Rome with the mundane 20th century power equipment makes for an unexpectedly pleasing combination. Plus, the location of the museum in the Garbatella district is way off the beaten/tourist path. The place is a hidden gem.
