History Lesson

This is the Blue Mosque.  It is one of Istanbul's top 2 or 3 sites that everyone sees and about which all the books write.  Stopped by quickly last night, and we'll explore it in depth today.  Does it look familiar?

Here's why, according to THE authoritative text.

In Dan Brown's Inferno, when Robert Langdon (i.e., Tom Hanks) arrives in Istanbul, here's one of his initial thoughts on seeing the Blue Mosque:  "Langdon had once read that the exotic, fairy-tale quality of the Blue Mosque's balconied minarets had inspired the design for Cinderella's iconic castle at Disney World."  (Inferno, pg. 383.)
