Looking Ahead (LI, NYC, Turkey)

I flew back to New York yesterday for a few days.  The main event is on Saturday afternoon - my nephew Sam's bar mitzvah party.  It's an outdoor shindig, so everyone's got their fingers crossed that the sun will shine.   (In case you're wondering, yes, most bar mitzvah parties occur on the same day as the service - not a month later.  But that's not how we Pernicks roll!)

Blogging may be light for the next few days.  We won't go completely radio silent though.  We have some noteworthy events planned, including a special Italian beer night in NYC on Monday.  And next week also promises far more excitement, as we take things on the road to Istanbul on Tuesday night.   Our base will be just a few blocks from Taksim Square!

The prep for Istanbul has now begun in earnest.  Just picked up the new Dan Brown book, which is set in Florence, Siena, and Istanbul.  One of our trusted Canadian readers gave Inferno a fantastic review, and said that it is noteworthy in particular for how much it discusses some of the most famous and dramatic sites in Istanbul.  If there is one thing we do, it is listen to our readers!

Peace out.
